Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a really lovely purse and I think it could be quite old - maybe as old as mid 19th Century, with that wonderful crewelwork needlepoint exterior.
As you noted, the stones appear to be of glass and the metal may be gold painted but not actually gold. If this is the case, this purse has a fair-market value of $150-250. If upon closer inspection of the stones, and a test of the metal identifies this to be gold plated, please let me know so I can update this appraisal accordingly.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Victorian or Edwardian crewelwork silk and gilt metal jeweled pocketbook
American or European, 1850 to 1925
Of demilune form with glass-jeweled gold-painted metal clasp. Interior with one slip pocket and lined with amethyst colored faille fabric . No label.
6 inches tall by 8 inches wide
CONDITION: This purse appears to be in very good condition.
PROVENANCE: Acquired at a gallery or dealer
$150/250*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.

Hi. I got it at a Antique Mall/Vintage /Thrift Shop. Nobody knew about it.
The big blue and green stones look like glass to me. Not sure if the small stones are rea;
The metal looks like gold painted metal
