Wood Carving
Provenance Unknown
Date unknown
2 relief wood carvings or appliques of dragon of griffin in a mirrored stance surrounded by ivy-like flora. Panels show surface work to sides and back indicating these were once part of a larger screen or cabinet piece. The style of carving is well detailed and could be European; specifically Scandinavian Chinoiserie in manufacture from the late 18th or 19th century. Unknown dimensions; Fair Condition, warping and water damage visible at base of one panel; loss to several areas of carving or applique on each panel. I believe this review to be conditional the panels should be examined in person to confirm their authenticity.
