These are woven textile panels that have been pieced together to form a larger piece. The textile is from Bhutan which is along the Himalayan mountains. These panel type pieces are referred to as 'rachu' (if worn by a woman) and 'kabney' if worn by a male. Each individual panel would have been worn over the shoulder with a kira or wraparound skirt. The colors and designs are intended to convey the wearers profession. They are traditional national costume and worn also to show respect in temples.
