Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of this appraisal is a Yanagisawa S901 Saxophone circa approximately 2000 with a serial number of 00245960. The piece appears to be accompanied by its original case. According to the current owner, the piece was acquired via inheritance.
The piece appears to be in good used condition with some finish wear noted. Yanagisawa soprano saxophones are desirable, but auction records are sparce, with no recent comparables in traditional settings able to form the basis of the appraisal. Therefore an examination of similar trumpets from the early to mid 2000s in recent recorded sales via second-hand online resellers form the price basis.
In consideration of the factors noted, a Fair Market Value (pre-auction estimate) of this piece would be estimated at $2,000 to $2,500.
Five Reverb.com Sold Listings for Yanagisawa S901 models in similar condition formed the basis of this appraisal. The amounts of the respective transactions were $2,000, $2,500, $2,199.99, $2,500, and $1,800.
