Description

Ziegfeld Girls Oil on Canvas - this series of paintings are each 30x40, two sets of twins, two with gold leaf, one Ziegfeld Blue Girl. The series was begun by Lyle Morris and completed by Frederick Lyle Morris. The Two developed a host of art from 1969 to present. Ziegfeld Blue sold to German collector in 2018 for $6,000.00; is now located in Aschaffenburg Germany..Ziegfeld Red (twin sisters facing each other) sold as a pair, France, 2018; $15,000. The Painting "Meto" created for Meto Co, Heppenheim, Germany, 2002 (not pictured) was commissioned by Checkpoint Systems their sister company, Frederick Lyle was at the time employed by Checkpoint as their International Database Manager.

Provenance

This series of paintings was exhibited throughout Germany and France from 1996-2002 while Frederick Lyle lived in Furth-Linnenbach, Germany with a family located at Im Gartel 4 Furth-Linnenbach. Lyle gave the family several paintings during his stay with them. These paintings along with 20 others were exhibited at the Sparkasse Bank, Volksbank and City Hall Linnenbach, Erbach, Erlenbach and Michelstade. During this period, "Lyle" exhibited extensively in Frankfurt, Ellenbach, Paris and Strasbourg, France. Frederick Lyle Morris also lived and exhibit his art in Ixheim Germany while staying at the home of the Willer Family, located at Sandstr 9 Ixheim from 1983-1986. During this period Frederick Lyle painted his way from City to city, selling his work and employed at the Kreuzberg Kaserne, Zweibrucken where he exhibited and sold paintings of the city and landscapes. Before departing he gave the Willer family a painting for allowing him to live with them during this period.

Thank you for your reply and additional information and process - I sent the lot of pictures so that you could see the series, so lets use your process and select the first "Red Ziegfeld" painting - Oil on canvas and the use of pencil and colored pencil on face and eyes - 30x40 inch

This painting and a group of others were donated to St. Elisabeth's Interfaith Episcopal Church, 7157 Summer ave, Bartlett, TN, Feb 2020, this group of paintings were then sold at auction at the listed prices of each listed at Mearto, this group of paintings was then sold to a private collector D. Keith for $5,000 each when purchasing the entire collection. In 2022, the estate of D. Keith deeded the group of paintings to the Arts Ministry to be auctioned for a charity endeavor. In 2023 the Arts Ministry donated the group of paintings to Sobriety Memphis and we auctioned at the Memphis Botanical Garden Charity Auction to various individuals.
