Two African export carved hardwood figures
made for the tourist trade, both 20th Century
One a female figure with pronounced breasts and facial features, carved wooden headdress and necklace with beaded jewelry (skirt and necklace), on a round base.
One a male figure with pronounced facial features, carved braided cornrows, wearing a carved shift and carrying a carved club in one hand, a carved knife in the other, its legs crossed, on a round base.
One 38 1/2 inches high on a base 6 by 7 inches
Other 40 inches high on a base 7 1/2 by 7 inches
CONDITION: both appear to be in generally good condition
PROVENANCE: acquired overseas
