Pictures 9" x 15 " Gilt frames 16" X 22" (damaged)
Inherited from Grandmother
This is a pair of 9" x 15" works in watercolor, depicting countryside scenes by the English artist, Henry John Sylvester Stannard (1870 - 1951). He was educated at the Bedford Modern School and the National Art Training School, South Kensington and best known for depicting scenes of Bedfordshire. His career was boosted substantially when the British Royal Family commissioned him to paint scenes from their Sandringham Estate. He was quite prolific and has a very long list of past auction record sales, which does in a manner, dilute his market value. The estimate is for a single picture, not the pair, and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
