Hello Micki,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is a Hand Made Kammer and Reinhardt Doll with Simon & Halbig Bisque Head. The piece dates back to the period from 1902 to 1920. As the current owner suggested it might have been purchased in circa 1905. The piece's head was made of Bisque Porcelain of Simon & Halbig while the rest of the body was made of a Papier Mache like Composite material. The piece was made of the unification of the companies of Simon & Halbig and Kammer & Reinhardt. The piece is very moving and has joints in it's ankles, knees, hips, wrists elbows, shoulders and neck. Simon & Halbig Dolls are known for their realistic facial features and their realistic skin tones. The details on the face such as eyebrows and lips are hand painted. The piece is marked marked on it's neck's backside with the both of the brand's marks. The clothing appears to be post-Victorian in style. The piece is very collectible and is one of the most important brands from the early 20th century. The piece is in good condition with small signes of use and age.
