Ok np .thank you.
Dear Brian,
Thank you for your patience. The presented object is a chair made by Jacob & Josef Kohn. The chair is constructed with a bentwood lower parts and two pressed decor plates which form the seating and the backrest.
The company Kohn was founded in 1849 and the factory in Teschen was opened in 1871. The exact dating is a bit mysterious. I didn't find this chair in the catalogs until 1917 but the stylistics features are a hint that this chair could be made around 1890. An explanation that the chair is not in the catalogs is that this chair was made on customer request because I found the seating in this selling catalog. The number 44 which is stamped on the bentwood is related to the construction of the chair itself and not to the seating and backrest.
The chair is mainly in good condition just the seating was later fixed with glue.
An estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
