an heirloom from my father and I was told the sword used to belong to my great grandfather on his side of the family. I know my family came from the carribean and also served in WW2, if that gives any context to the sword. I’m unsure if it’s a rapier or broadsword, but it does seem to be on the thinner side and isn’t very heavy either but it does have weight to it. There is also a “555” symbol inscribed near the hilt of the sword, right along where the blade meets the hilt near the bottom.
41 inches in total length, hilt is 6 inches in length, 5 inches wide sheath/blade width 1.5 inches

I’ve gone ahead and checked out the sabre again, the hilt seems to be made with both leather and metal, and the “555” is etched on both sides of the blade. No other additional marks
