Not sure who made the desk, it is in good condition excluding one lock added in the 1980's
57" wide x 32" deep x 29" high
Hi Randy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The mahogany used in this desk is of a very good quality and it has a very impressive, imposing appearance and stature. Unfortunately, the market for this kind of furniture is very soft at the moment as fewer and fewer people furnish their homes in such a formal style.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Colonial Revival style mahogany double-pedestal kidney-form kneehole desk
American or English, circa 1940s
The kidney-form top with molded edge over a conforming case fitted with a central short drawer flanked by two stacks of rounded short drawers with carved pilasters and shaped rails; paneled backs. Apparently unmarked.
29 inches high, 57 inches wide, 32 inches deep
CONDITION: One lock is a later addition. This desk appears to be in good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$500-700*
