porcelain doll, neck/shoulder/elbow/wrist/knee joints
24"
in Mom's house for decades
Hi John,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I'm not seeing the same mark on the back of the neck of this male doll as I did for the female doll, though they look similar to me. If they have the same mark, please let me know and I'll upgrade the value on this doll.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage or antique bisque porcelain male character doll
probably made in Germany, late 19th/early 20th Century
With strawberry blond hair and blue eyes (sleeping), bisque porcelain head and body, wearing a pink jacket and breeches, knit stockings and (leather?) shoes. Marked indistinctly to the back of the head.
24 inches tall
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: inherited
$400-600*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
Thanks, John, you're all set.
would like to consign to sale
Hi John,
Mearto doesn't take items on consignment but you are welcome to use our online marketplace to help find a buyer. If you've marked this as "for sale" with a "public" status, it is already on our marketplace and interested buyers can reach out to you directly.
If you don't know how to change the status, let me know and I'll ask our client services dept to do that for you (I can't do it on my end).
Thanks,
Delia
