It is bent wood so mahogany I think . Not super heavy. On old functional casters . Union upholstery label on bottom. Been in family for a long time I see it in pictures back to the 30s minimum .

Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This chair would have been part of a much larger set, more likely in a hallway of a grand house than in a parlor, where chair arms were typically upholstered. Pairs or larger sets of these chairs frequently sell at auction averaging $300-500 per chair (a pair would be worth $600-1,000, three at $900-1,500) but individual chairs are less desirable, so are worth less: $250-350 per chair.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Louis XV style carved walnut round-about hall chair
American, early 20th Century
The rounded plank back curving into arms, supported by a pierced scrolled splat over a serpentine-front seat rail with inset cushioned yellow damask style upholstery with brass tack trim, all raised on tall cabriole legs, on casters.
33 inches tall overall; 22 inches width across arms; 22 inches deep.
CONDITION: This chair appears to be in generally good original cosmetic condition. Value assumes no breaks, repairs or losses.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 250-350*
