Hello,
This item is a blue and white rug that appears to be handwoven, likely originating from the Caucasus region or Central Asia. The geometric patterns, characterized by zigzags and repeating motifs, are commonly associated with the weaving traditions of areas such as Azerbaijan or the Kazak regions. These regions have a long-standing history of producing high-quality wool rugs with intricate designs, often utilizing bold colors like blue and white. The balance between the negative space and the detailed pattern is suggestive of a skilled weaver, perhaps from a smaller village workshop or a family of artisans.
The combination of blue tones, particularly in stripes and stylized motifs, also brings to mind the influence of Southwestern Asia’s weaving techniques, which often incorporated natural dyes and wool.
