What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

You have an ovoid-form brass (or other patinated metal) vase with squat baluster-form neck. A figure of a seated man and woman in three-quarter profile is painted in enamel to either side. While the piece appears to have be Indian, and have some age, I believe it was created for the tourist trade, not for indigenous consumption. As you can see, there are also significant condition issues, with enamel loss particularly to the face of the woman. Due to the aforementioned factors, I am sorry to say that it would be of modest, fair market (auction) value.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I am happy to help.
