Bronze vase or ewer. I was told it is a Ikebana vase.
Japan
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a 丐美 (?)signed Japanese patinated bronze stick neck vase, the rim formed by a pair of conjoined lotus leaves, their stems forming a free form handle connected to a crane's beak and curved neck above a pair of outstretched wings fanning out over the globular vase body. Other vases by the same workshop , active around 1900, have been offered and sold at auction. The estimate is based on auction results.
The first character is a bit weird, perhaps due to incising it into the metal, the writing of the second character is nearly correct, combined meaning would be "to give beauty" or simply "beautiful". Other near identical vases, cast and signed by the same craftsman or workshop, were sold in the past, but as of today nobody figured out who the artist is.
Thank you for your quick response. Is there a workshop name? I appreciate all your help.
I thought when you appraised it that you would give me the name of the signed signature on the bottom. It would help to know who the artist is. Or what is the same workshop? A little disappointed.
