Set of 6 glasses with gold leaf and paint on red glass. Carafe included with gold plated stopper. Supposed to be Murano but no marks apart from a squiggle on the bottom of the carafe. Not very clear in photo.
Purchased from Venice 40 years ago. Seldom used. A few tiny scratches on carafe
This is a vintage, Mid-Century Modern era, or Mid 20th century, glass carafe or decanter set from Italy. The ruby red glass was hand blown with twist stems, then painted with gilding, or gold and decorated with hand painted raised enamel flowers. Though the design is based on circa 1900 glass wares from Czech-Bohemia, these were popularly made by the glass blowers from the island of Murano off Venice, Italy in the 1950s - 1960s. The set was likely made by Vecchia, a glass firm from Murano. The set consists of a pedestal footed, handled carafe or decanter with stopper and 6 matching cordial stemware glasses. The estimate is based on actual past recent auction sales of comparables.
