13x21 poster from aug 1961
My grandmother
This is a vintage, original, mid 20th century, 1961 silk-screened broadside poster for the Caro Drive-In Movie theatre in Caro, Michigan. The poster showcases some now fairly famous summer 'blockbusters' including The Absent Minded Professor by Disney which starred Fred MacMurray (best known for the tv show, My Three Sons) in which the professor invents 'flubber' or flying rubber which helps bring victory to his college basketball team. The other main headliner, The Misfits, stars two screen legends, Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe and was directed by John Houston. The film brings an ex-stripper, cowboys and gambler together who start a business capturing wild horses. The Caro Drive-In in Caro, Michigan opened in 1950 and had a capacity for 500 cars. A 1987 windstorm closed the theater when it caused the screen to come down. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
