I think this is a Vintage Erich Jachmann for WMF Art Glass Vase, Germany, c. 1955. There is no sticker or signature. It's in really great condition with some slight scratches, as would be expected. Purchased at Goodwill
Approximately 9.5" H x 4.5" L
Hi Suzanne,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Yes, you've correctly identified this as having been designed by Erich Jachmann for WMF.
WMF art glass refers to decorative glass produced by Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF), the renowned German manufacturer founded in 1853 in Geislingen an der Steige. Although best known for silverplate, metalwork, and Art Nouveau design, WMF also produced notable art glass, particularly during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Erich Jachmann was a German industrial and glass designer active during the mid-20th century who is best known today for his work designing art-glass vases for WMF in the 1950s and 1960s. Although he is less widely known than some postwar European glass designers, his work has developed a strong following among collectors of Mid-Century Modern art glass.
This vase shares many characteristics of his work, namely thick cased crystal, the use of olive-green colored glass, and geometric faceting.
Jachmann rarely signed his work so it's not unusual to have an unsigned vase and while this *could*, in theory, have been made by someone else, the market generally accepts these as by him.
Similar examples are currently retailing for between $500 and $650 but when they come to auction, they bring less, typically in the $150-250 range. If you're looking to sell this, an asking price of $600 would be in line with other similar example currently offered for sale.
