Drawing of Don Quijote fighting windmills
Family Heirloom. It was acquired from the Moma in the 70's by my father.
Dear Mauricio,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry and I wish you a Happy New Year 2021.
The presented object appears to be an etching print on paper with the measurements 13 inches by 18 inches. This print was made and hand-signed by the famous artist Salvador DALI (1904-1989). This print depicts a scene from the roman of Cervantez "Don Quixote". The edition of HC means "Hours Commerce" and HCs prints and APs prints are similar except the former is only available directly from the artist.
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 250 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Mauricio,
Thank you for your email. This is an etching and you can see clearly the embossing of the printing plate on the paper around the motif. Drawings are not numbered and have no edition like the "HC" remark. I change the measurements in the estimate.
With kind regards,
Georg
Hi Georg
To be 100% clear, this is a print and not a hand made drawing by Dali. The print was however signed by Dali, and given directly by the author since it is HC.
Measurements ara 13 inch by 18 inch, without the frame.
Is there anything that may improve its value?
Thank you
