Painting is oil on new canvas. Size is 20/28" Frame is very nice and well kept.
Item orignal from Odesa, Russia. Was shipped to Israel in 1960 after it's owner. The owner (russian) gave me a signed letter from him and his granfather insuring that this is Burliuk painting from around 1908 that was bought from the painter and was passed from father to son. letter is signed and includes the ID and phone of the owner. Very impresive painting that fits the artist caliber.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This painting was recently auctioned for 460 $ at a pre-estimate of 6000-8000 $. According to the description is was brought to Israel in the 1990s, no proof of previous auction history exists. The painting has been relined for no apparent reason. The paint structure shows craquelure induced by using different types of sikkatives or by painting on not fully dried up oil colour. I would strongly advise you to check the painting with UV-light, if it shines up in violett colour it is a recent forgery. Forgeries have no market value unfortunately.
This type of craquelure is a result of the painting process, not aging. Please feel free to upload a uv-light photo.
Hi there
Painting was bought by me for 460$ when the opening price of 2000$ was not answered. The auction house is a small one selling only in israel and in my opinion that is the only reason i got it for such a low price. Painting was checked this morning in uv light and it didnt shined. Color mixture and the crack in color is probably from the age of the painting and the restoration that was made. For the year it was brought to israel is 1960 for sure after checking with the owner. Thank you
