Hello there, This painting was acquired from Art Club gallery in Israel. The origin is from a close friend of the artist that got him from Gat has a present. After he passed away his parents decided to sell it. The painting is 72/60 a real beauty. It has some oxidation marks on the canvas back and a very minor cheap on the front. for the year is was made, around 1960, the condition is fair. It is attached to the frame with nails. Original artist frame. The painting is sadly unsigned. thank you
Gat painted it as a present to a close friend and family got it after he passed away. The gallery helped the family to sell the painting.
The appraised work appears to be an oil on canvas painting possibly executed by Israeli artist Eliyahu Gat (1919-1987). The painting depicts a colorful, abstracted landscape created using thick, gestural brushstrokes. The artist was originally born in Minsk but his family immigrated to Poland in 1926, settling in Vileyka. By 1937, the young artist moved to Israel and studied architecture at Technion in Haifa and later at the Avni Institute, the Academy of Art in Cairo and finally the Studia in Tel Aviv. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. The appraised work's size, composition, medium and condition (based on images provided), as well as the artist's current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
Happy to help!
I appriciate the well detailed appraisal.
thank you
