33x22 ink on canvas lithograph
An art gallery in Soho. I believe the name was George Delacroix
Dear Albert,
Thank you for your request. The presented object is a copper engraving on paper with the measurements of 22 x 33 inches. It depicts the fresco of the cupola at the Chateau de Seaux painted and finished by Charles Le Brun (1619-1690) in the year 1674. This print is one of overall five prints which picture the fresco which has the triumph of the New Testament over the Old Testament as a motif. This part show, for example, two angels carrying the ark of the covenant and the Arma Christi. The print was engraved by the French artist Gérard Audran (1640-1703) in 1681. The print is in a medium condition and damages like a water damage are visible.
An estimation would be between 150 to 400 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
