Hand colored litho, matted and framed under glass, signed 'Busson.' Believed to be from his 'en Poste' series; although extensive research yields no information regarding this particular work.
Acquired from estate auction.
Dear Jill,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.
The presented object appears to be a color lithograph on paper with unknown measurements. The print depicts a city scene with a problematic traffic situation with two hours drawn carriages. This print has the title "Encombrement" and was made after a watercolor of Georges Louis Charles BUSSON (1859-1933) and was probably printed by Adolphe LEGOUPY in Paris. The print is signed on the plate. This means that this print was not hand-signed by the artist. This print is one print from the "E Poste" series. First is "Encombrement" and second has the title "Relais Du Courrier".
Comparable prints were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 60 to 150 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
