This is set of traveler's scales, or a portable 'pocket set' from the early 20th century. They were generally used by jeweler's and handy for buying and selling in the trade when value is based on weight. The scale sets are also referred to sometimes as apothecary scales. Though gold-toned, these are actually made primarily of brass metal. The mark is for 'Made in India'. The estimate is based on actual recent past auction sales of comparables and factors in the missing weight and box condition.
