GUARANTEE LINE MONTGOMERY, Bernard Law ( Chief of the General Staff, Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR), Typed Draft Document in re the Reorganization of the BAOR in the year 1946. Contains hand written amendments and instructions by Monty
In this dispatch, General Montgomery tells of his anticipation of and concern for bold new pressures in the coming year by the native Germans against the occupying armies. This document is unsigned. It is part of the post-war occupation period, and before Gen. Montgomery was knighted - and changed his signature. To Viscount Montgomery of Alamein; notwithstanding, Montgomery did not sign this document. The last paragraph is extensive, and provides enough of a sample to potentially authenticate it, Certain handwriting characteristics indicate that it is by him, and not by an aide taking dictation, or by another editor. This is an authentic original document inherited by me from my father who was a senior officer on Montys staff.
