Left in a home we purchased
Hi Kristen,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This looks very much like an original rather than a print (though it could be a canvas print, which is a technique of printing with paints onto canvas). I will assume it is an original rather than a print.
What are the dimensions of this painting?
It is by an artist H. Hargrove, which was the American pseudonym for Nicolo Sturiano, who was born in Marsala, Italy, in 1941. He emigrated to the US in 1964, became a citizen and changed his name based on a name he opened a phone book to. His scenes of American life are fairly popular.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
H. Hargrove (Nicolo Sturiano, Italian American, b. 1941)
"Air Mail," undated
oil on canvas
signed lower left
16 by 20 inches
PROVENANCE: left in a home the client purchased
$300-500*

Thanks!
I've updated the appraisal to include the dimensions, and added the value.
Hi! With the frame it’s 16x20.
I have another Hargrove, Americana Biplane on Farm that is the same, same frame.
