I am unsure of the exact title of Art Work. My step father bought in 1976 in San Francisco. Signed Ye Saimon (or Saiman) 1976. Painting is matted within larger frame. Glass is over painting and then surrounding mat is exposed with gold painted design on paper,(maybe parchment Outside is 45lx35w, Painting itself is 32lx24w
Was purchased by my stepfather in 1976. Lost in parents in China so spend his adult life acquiring expensive Asian Artwork.
Hello Kathy,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be an ink and gouache painting of a seated Japanese lady. The work is inscribed "YeSaimon" and dated October 1976. These depictions are commonly known as "beauty" images. Unfortunately the artist name is not a listed or known artist. It may be likely the work is by a regional artist. Nevertheless, the image of "beauties" is a common depiction in the auction market. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of comparable ink and gouache paintings depicting Japanese ladies (or beauties), dating to the mid to late 20th century. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
Hi Kathy,
When you submitted the item, you were asked if you wanted to sell the item. If you selected "Yes" or "Maybe," the item was placed in a database that is accessed by auction houses. If an auction house expresses interest, they will contact you. You can find out more from our Consignment page (https://mearto.com/consign).
Thank you!
Thank you so very much for your help. Is there a recommendation for how or where I can sell it ?
