Origin: Gift from relatives who were Christian missionaries in Japan before the start of WWII: Believed to be a hand painted block print on parchment broken from an antique book on the ancient Japanese classical drama "The Noh" The print has a thin rice paper reversed fonticepiece "The Legend" well bound to the front, right side of the print. Dimensions are: Length =14.5" x Height = 10-1/8" The piece includes an undated typewritten English language explanation of "The Legend" authored by the relative who acquired it in Japan. The piece is in excellent condition.
