Japanese sword, typical materials. Unmarked and in a storage type scabbard. Blade is in good shape with some mild blemishes that I am sure a good polishing would remove. No I did not touch the blade, and I did not attempt any cleaning whatsoever. I tried to provide different photos to show the various aspects of the blade and tang. Please pay close attention to the tang, there is some sort of black/blue printed characters? Tried to capture that in a couple of the photos.

Hello,
This item is a traditionally crafted Japanese katana, which appears to be unmarked, as there is no visible signature or inscription on the tang. The lack of markings suggests that it could be a World War II-era guntō, commonly mass-produced for military purposes, though more detailed examination might reveal other possibilities.
The condition of the blade is good, with some minor blemishes that could be improved with careful polishing by a professional. The tang shows typical signs of aging, including holes and discoloration, which are indicators of the sword’s age and possible authenticity rather than flaws.
Without the signature of a swordsmith, the value is more reliant on its craftsmanship, condition, and materials.
