Oil painting on a wooden frame. dimensions: 34"x46".
Gift from my boss to me who received if from one of his patients. Patient stated they bought this at an auction several years ago, unknown amount.
The appraised work is an oil on canvas painting titled 'Las Vegas Loser' executed by American artist Paul Blaine Henrie (1932-1999) in 1977. The painting depicts a figure dressed as a clown standing in an abstracted landscape with a briefcase at one side and a cactus in the background. Henrie was born in Florida but settled in California, where he primarily lived and worked. He is primarily remembered for his coastal and seascape scenes of California vistas, but he also painted still lifes and urban, exotic locales during his travels to Mexico, Tahiti and across the United States. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. The appraised's work's size, composition, condition (based on photographs provided), as well as the artist's current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
If you are interested in possibly selling your painting, I would recommend contacting Brady Hart Gallery in MD. They appear to represent the artist's estate and have several similar paintings currently listed for sale. The artist's current auction market is weak, so you may have better luck working with a gallery.
