This is a sword made of metal and wood. I have been told that this sword predates the American Civil War. I do not know who made it. The wooden handle is still intact but shows signs of wear and is slightly loose inside what I assume is a brass handle. The metal of the actual sword appears to be aged.
The length of the sword of is 41 inches from tip of the sword to the end of the handle. The span of the sword's metal itself is about 1 1/4 inches.
Dear Nick,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a few better and more focused images of the hallmarks and proof stamps? These stamps are important for the estimation of a sword. Thank you very much.
With kind regards,
Gregory
