Hi Laura,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These shelves, with their very minimalist appearance and the "snap in" shelving feature, are reminiscent of a designs by Poul Cadovius, a Danish designer best known for his innovative wall-mounted shelving systems, particularly the Royal System, which was created in 1948 and usually used teakwood. It is also comparable to a design later produced by Tord Björklund, for IKEA.
Unfortunately, without a maker's mark, stamp or other way to identify the maker, this has a value of $150-250, a price in line with what other comparable models have sold for at auction in the last year or so.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Midcentury Modern wood and steel rod wall shelf unit
unattributed maker, possibly European, mid 20th Century
With five tiers of graduated split shelves on a steel rod frame that is mounted to the wall at the top and bottom, all on three angled legs.
78 inches (6-feet 6 inches) tall; 60 inches (5 feet) wide, 20 inches deep
CONDITION: This shelving unit appears to be in good cosmetic condition
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 150-250*

Is this an IKEA piece?
No it isn’t. It’s been in the family much longer than 1990’s.
Plus IKEA’s shelf was one row. This is 2 rows that can’t be divided. In other words, it’s not 2 ikea shelves pushed together.
I agree that this design is very similar to that by Björklund and have noted that in the appraisal. While some of Björklund's other designs (chaise lounges notably, and chairs) do bring a few hundred dollars at auction, I've not found any similar shelves at auction by him or other makers to warrant increasing the value of this appraisal.
I feel like it’s more in line with Tord Bjorklund. He designed an almost exact replica for ikea in 1999, only as a single shelf. I googled the makers mark for coul but couldn’t find it.
