Hello, this item is a vintage Murano Sommerso faceted art-glass bowl or ashtray, made in Murano, Italy, circa 1960s to 1970s. The substantial 16 x 16 x 12 cm form combines a vivid ruby-red inner well with blue-green transitional layers encased in thick clear glass, then extensively cut and polished into an architectural diamond-like form. Importantly, the original “Made in Murano Italy” foil label remains attached. The construction closely relates to faceted Sommerso production associated with Mandruzzato and Campanella, although the generic Murano label does not justify assigning it definitively to either workshop. Comparable documented pieces are generally dated to the 1960s and 1970s.

The unusually large height, complex multi-color Sommerso layering, retained label, and apparently very good condition make this a stronger example than many smaller Murano ashtrays. Comparable attributed examples around 14 to 17.5 cm are currently marketed from the lower hundreds into roughly $400, while a documented Mandruzzato/Campanella-type example sold for £149. Attribution to Flavio Poli or Seguso should be avoided without firmer documentation, since similar geometric Sommerso pieces are frequently over-attributed in the secondary market.
