Could the last word start with Sch---? I'm not having any luck coming up with anything but if this is Germanic, which I am fairly confident it is, that would at least be on the right track (all the Selim's and Sefim's are Iraqi artists...which isn't likely)
You know what, I believe you are correct on the Sch
Schmi is what I can make out. possibly ending with a K or R or D
Thanks for confirming. I'm fairly sure this is the work of Oskar Schmid(t), who did these small portraits of what I would call "everyday" people. Sadly not worth very much but enigmatic and a nice thing to have inherited through your family.

I see the B. but the second part is difficult to make out. the third part are the 2 things I think it could be.
