Don’t know a lot about the rug it was handed down to me
Looks to be about 5.6 x 7
Hi Gary,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a handwoven Kazak Caucasian rug originating from the Kazak regions of the South Caucasus, primarily in present-day Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. These rugs became especially popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries due to their bold geometric designs, vibrant earthy colors (browns, reds and blues with some cream and orange highlights), and durable wool construction.
Ones of this size usually sell for less than $1,000 when sold at auction, though some dealers might sell theirs for more online or in brick-and-mortar shops.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Kazak Caucasian hand-loomed wool carpet

Centering a six-sided cream-colored medallion on a navy and red ground, within a red-ground medial field with scalloped edges, and within a navy-ground border, with dark selvedges (fringe)
Approximately 5-1/2 by 7 feet
CONDITION: This rug appears to be in fair condition with some losses to the edges. Value assumes no stains, odors, tears, repairs or losses.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
