I think this is a camel saddlebag. My grandfather purchased in in Iran around 1954. It is made like a Persian rug, but is a saddlebag. It is in perfect condition.

Hi Taji,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Based on their design, colors, and weaving style, these saddlebags most likely originate from Iran (Persia), specifically from a tribal or nomadic group such as the Qashqai or Lori in southwestern Iran.
Its unusual for most saddlebags to remain intact; it's more common to see bagface panels cut (or never attached) come to auction where they sell for modest sums that appeal to beginning collectors. This would likely appeal most to a serious academically-oriented collector or textile historian who appreciates the form in its original representation.
The intact saddlebags I've seen at auction usually sell between $600-800.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Persian Qasqai or Lori hand-knotted wool (double) saddlebag
made in Southwestern Iran, second quarter 20th Century
Two identical bagfacesbacked with a striped flatwoven kilim, each with top loops, centering a geometric medallion on a dark red ground with cream-ground border.
25 by 45 inches
CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition; value assumes no tears, repairs, stains or odors.
PROVENANCE: Inherited; previously purchased in Iran in the mid 20th Century
$600-800*
