Hello Boby,
Thank you again for your appraisal inquiry with MeArto. The item presented appears to be a "photogenic" print by photographer Johanna Alexandra "Lotte" Jacobi (German / American; 1896 - 1990). The print depicts abstract circular forms. The work is signed by the artist to the lower right.
Jacobi was a pioneer in photography for women during the mid-century. She is best known for her portraits of well-known public figures. Although, I enjoy her "photogenics" more. Her "photogenics" were camera-less photographs. She would construct a scene with pieces of glass or twisted cellophane, which would interrupt flashlight beams positioned above a piece of photographic paper.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of Jacobi's "photogenic" prints, within the last 2 - 3 years. Thank you and please take care.
My pleasure, Boby. Please take care.
Thanks for the explanation of photogenic. Makes sense to me now. And thanks for the appraisal.
