5 pieces of sculpture & pottery, maybe pre-Columbian, I don't know
small, see photos
Inherited from neighbor, who travelled the globe in the 50s++ as a US diplomat
Hi Gary,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These look to me to be mostly for the tourist/export trade
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An assembled collection of Pre-Columbian style small artifacts
Central American, most probably 19th century or later, comprising:
- a glazed earthenware head on tripod base (approximately 4 1/2-5 inches high) ($75-125)
- a glazed earthenware one-handled vessel with stylized raised decoration (approximately 3 1/2-4 inches diameter) ($100-150)
- a small stoneware bowl with black glaze decoration (and head?) (approximately 2 1/2 inches) ($50-75)
- a figural carved and polished soapstone ax head(?) (approximately 4 1/2 inches tall) ($150-250)
PROVENANCE: inherited from a neighbor
$375-600 for the collection *
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
Hi Gary,
Can you take/upload photos of the undersides next to a ruler so I can guesstimate the sizes?
Thanks,
Delia
Yep, thanks so much for examining these
Thanks, Gary, you're all set.
Thanks, can I auction them here?
Hi Gary,
Mearto isn't an auction house; rather, we're a marketplace where interested buyers can reach out to you directly. If this appraisal is marked "for sale" and has a "public" status, then it's already listed on the marketplace and people can reach out to you with offers (you're not obligated to accept any). Let me know if you can't see what the status is, or can't change it.
Thanks, I cannot seem to edit the item & make it public. The info I entered is frozen in place. Thanks
I've emailed our client support to help you as it's not something I can help you from here. You should hear from them within 24 hours but if not, please let me know.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, three pieces of pottery, the smallest one might be carved wood (petrified). The Ax is maybe polished soapstone, with holes/grooves at the base for a handle to attach. You are welcome to call if needed, at 202-256-9910. Regards, Gary
