This is an antique, late 19th century, about 1880 - 1890, Victorian era, pedestal centerpiece that is referred to as a 'tazza'. It is made in the Renaissance Revival style and is possibly molded and gilded bronze on a black stone socle base. These were usually acquired during 'Grand Tour' vacations through Europe in that era. A majority of tazza pieces in bronze were produced in France at the Barbedienne Foundry, however their wares are almost always signed. These were made mostly in both France and Germany as well as Italy, and would thus be catalogued as 'Continental'. These used to sell for significantly higher a few decades ago and the sale market of these were further impacted by the Recession. The estimate is based on presuming this is gilded bronze and utilizes actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
It appears to be bronze with stone base...very high quality.
No marks that I can find.
Please check for marks or stamps on this. Also, in the lighting in the photos the metal looks brass tone, is this golden or silver color metal?
