Hi Barbara,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Salviati was founded in 1859 by Dr. Antonio Salviati, an Italian lawyer who revitalized the traditional glassblowing techniques of the Venetian island of Murano. Salviati aimed to preserve and enhance the centuries-old art of Murano glass, focusing on creating intricate mosaics and fine glassware. His company became renowned for its innovative designs and high-quality craftsmanship, blending traditional methods with modern artistic expression. Today, Salviati continues to be a symbol of Murano’s glassmaking excellence, producing exquisite vases, sculptures, chandeliers, and decorative items that are treasured worldwide.
Mushrooms made by Salviati of Murano are exquisite glass sculptures crafted on the Venetian island renowned for its centuries-old glassmaking tradition. Salviati, a prestigious glassmaker, creates these delicate, colorful mushrooms using the intricate techniques of Murano glass artistry. Each piece is a unique work of art, blending vibrant hues and organic shapes that mimic natural mushrooms.
While Salviati's glass mushrooms are not considered common, they are abundant enough not to be worth labeling as "rare," and typically retail for between $150-200, depending on size. The values Mearto assigns are FAIR MARKET, typically about 1/3-1/2 of retail values but because you have a pair, they warrant a slightly higher value as a group: $500-700.
