I bought this painting from an estate sale. Size. 39.5 in X 29.6 in. I am not sure what the material is. I was hoping you would help me with the artist and material.
I not sure about this history. Unknown
Dear Rayan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil or acrylic paint on canvas with the measurements of 39.5 in X 29.6 in. The painting depicts a landscape with sheep. It is signed with a signature which s similar to the signatures of the famous artist Eugène VERBOECKHOVEN (1798/99-1881). Neither the style nor the quality nor the signature is comparable to authentic works of VERBOECKHOVEN. The canvas was made in the second half of the 20th century.
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
Sadly these arguments classify this piece as a forgery.
With kind regards,
Georg
