This is a 17 in vase in perfect condition. It has a signature on the bottom which I believe says Asan Tiagos. I think it’s Italian but I am not sure. If that’s not the correct name I’d like to know.
17 inches tall. The base is 6 inches. 11.5 inches across the top.
Hi Martha,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This appears to be a vase made in Murano Italy (a neighborhood of Venice) but that signature doesn't look familiar to me and I can find no record of a maker by that name However, that's not a reason to despair as it most likely means the maker either had a small / limited production run and / or the company lost or did not keep good records.
While it's a shame we aren't able to provide information about the maker, its possible to value this vase solely on its artistic merit because it's a stunning example of Art Deco artistry.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A near antique Art Deco hand-blown gilt and iridescent glass vase
unidentified maker, Murano, Venice, Italy, probably circa 1930s-40s
Of circular section and conical form, the wide rim with notched side, the iridescent body with cased gilt palmette on one side, on a blue stepped base. Appears to be signed "Asan Tiagos."
17 inches tall, diameter of top 11-1/2 inches; base 6 by 6 inches
CONDITION: This vase appears to be in very good condition; value assumes no chips, breaks, repairs or damage
PROVENANCE: Acquired in a garage or yard sale.
