Drawing or painting on Silk Dutch scene at merchant port. Measures 14”X20”. Frame larger
Naples, Florida
Dear Molly,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The apprised object appears to be a print on canvas with the measurements of 14” x 20”.
The print depicts the famous De Adriaan windmill in Haarlem in the Netherlands. The print is signed not clearly readable. I interpret the signature as follows: "Hans D´gane" or "Hans Digane". Sadly no artist with this name is mentioned in reference books and similar databases.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 40 to USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
Dear Molly,
Thank you for the additional images. Indeed the structure appears to have the glaze of silk. The edition of 175/200 underlines that this is a print. In my opinion, this is the title "Windmill" and not a signature.
With kind regards,
Georg
Does silk improve the value?
Dear Molly,
Sadly I don't think that this highers the estimate. I wish you a wonderful weekend.
With kind regards,
Georg
Thank you!
Well, I took the painting pit of the frame. It is on a silky material, not canvas. It is numbered and appears to be signed but a different name. Will send pictures
