Dear Janice,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a few better images of the surface and the reverse side. Could be the material porcelain?
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Janice,
Thank you for the additional images/ information and your patience.
The presented object appears to be a painting on porcelain or china painting in the tradition of miniature paintings. The small artwork depicts the portrait of a child in poorish clothing. This kind of portraits was common especially in Italy in the late 19th century. The porcelain plate has a number which is a model number for the unpainted porcelain plate.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 70 to 140 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
