I buy from second hand store but i think it expensive
Hi Adnan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and for the additional photos.
The market for miniature bronze busts - from antiquity or later - is quite soft, particularly at a time when provenance is critical to the field of collecting antiquities.
That said, This head, in the manner of ancient Phoenicia, does not have the age I would expect to see of something approximately 2500 years old; I strongly suspect this is a late 18th or 19th Century "relic" made for the influx of Western collectors during the Neoclassical period.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Neoclassical style bronze bust
In the Phoenician style, late 18th or 19th Century
The bust-length figure wearing a peaked cap, with stylized waved hair,
approximately 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm) long
CONDITION: with oxidation and variation in surface color.
PROVENANCE: acquired at a second hand store
€ 100-150*
