Roaring tiger on hill side, highlighted in a gold medium
Unknown
Hi Tim,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These paintings were made for the export (non-native) market and were tremendously popular after World War II. Quite a few of them on the market at the moment, so in this case, the value is modest because supply outweighs demand and the value is largely as a decorative item.
If you'd like for your appraisal to include dimensions, which is customary, please forward in the comments section - at your convenience - the height and width and I'll update this ASAP.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Japanese export colored ink on silk painting
mid 20th Century
Depicting a roaring tiger, with a crescent moon in the background, with gilt highlights. Signed lower right, framed.
