This antique is est. 400 - 600 years old. Hand pounded iron hardware. hand carved scrolls & design elements. A crest in on the top of the piece (family or royal emblem?).
My mother was an antique dealer for over 40 years. I was 10 years old & present when my mother bought it from another antique dealer. The dealer acquired a lot of antiques from the estate of George Hearst, the brother of William Randolph Hearst. George Hearst built a manion of his own in Palermo CA. The dealer that sold the piece to my mother also lived in Palermo, a small town near where I grew up, in Oroville CA.
Hi Paul,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
At the earliest, this is a 19th Century piece. If you can prove connections to George Hearst, that would add a zero or two to the appraisal (this would possibly be documented in Hearst family archives). The applied armorial is not that of the Hearst family.
If you'd like for your appraisal to include dimensions, which is customary, please forward in the comments section - at your convenience - the height, width and depth and I'll update this ASAP
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Renaissance Revival style carved walnut hutch cabinet
American or European, late 19th Century
The outset molded edged cornice over a corresponding upper case fitted with a cupboard door with relief-carved armorial crest, over an inset top, the lower case fitted with a relief-carved long drawer over a relief- carved cupboard door, flanked by engaged relief-carved pilasters, all on compressed bun feet.
