Graceful wing back chair with feather cushion. Front and back legs are delicate and finely carved. Has been reupholstered.
The chair has come down in the family at least as far back as my great grandfather (I am in my 60's). I know he lived in New York and was originally from Georgia.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a late 18th century wingback chair, newly upholstered, with finely carved cabriole legs. Currently wingback chairs in general are difficult to sell, most sell in the low hundreds. The one in your possession is quite unique regarding the carving. I couldn´t locate any comparables in auction results or museum collections. This chair might be worth a lot more if the designer can be identified. Please check local americana museums in areas where your ancestors lived for comparable furniture.
There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to it.
