Hi there, Here are photos of the 3 rugs we'd like a rough appraisal for. They are about 1 year old and we only used them for about 6 months. They are currently wrapped and stored in our garage. We just want to give them away and write it off so just need a rough appraisal for our tax records. We bought them from a rug dealer in San Francisco.
Two creme rugs: 9' W x 12'6 L and the other is 12'6 W x 12'6 L with 1/4" Durahold pad. Paid: $27,547 for both. Multi-colored: 8'2 W x 12'8 L with 1/4" Durahold pad. Paid: $9,700
Hello, this item is a contemporary custom sized luxury area rug in a neutral creme palette, machine woven with a dense wool and wool blend pile, produced for modern residential interiors and purchased from a high end rug dealer in San Francisco. Based on the clean geometric texture visible in the images, the rug reflects late 2010s to early 2020s bespoke production rather than a traditional hand knotted origin. The stated dimensions of approximately 9 feet wide by 12 feet 6 inches long, together with the use of a Durahold pad, align with premium made to order rugs typically commissioned for living rooms or formal seating areas. The rug appears lightly used for approximately six months, with no visible staining, fading, or structural issues evident in the provided photographs.
In the current secondary market, recently purchased custom luxury rugs without brand attribution or hand knotted construction depreciate significantly, even in very good condition. Comparable modern custom rugs of similar size and quality generally resell or appraise for tax donation purposes at approximately 30 to 40 percent of original retail value. Based on the stated original combined purchase price and condition, a realistic current fair market value for this rug is $6,000 to $8,000 USD.
